Question: My husband and I purchased a pup at the Woods-N-Water Outdoor Fair this year. We are very happy with the pup and were wondering what advice you have on name tags or identifying marks such as a tattoo.

Answer: Buy a collar that has a name plate with your name, address, and phone number (or numbers) riveted on it. Forget the tattoo and have your vet install a microchip in your dog. Most of the vets and shelters have the scanners to read the information on the chip. The collar is an immediate source for information if someone finds your dog. The chip will help if the dog is recovered by an agency or if the collar has fallen off.
